Piano rags are a never-ending source of entertainment and interest for me. I have tried to recut the best music and the most interesting and rarest material I could find. Along the way I have recut some outstanding rags for the first time ever, I have created new ragtime rolls from live performances by some of today's best composers, and I have uncovered some rare originals that had not been located by collectors before.
My favorite rolls are hand-played rags played by their composers, and you will find many examples from greats including Scott Joplin, James P. Johnson, Blind Boone, Les Copeland, Charley Straight, Roy Bargy, Max Kortlander, and Egbert Van Alstyne. See the BluesTone Recommended Reading list for more information about these and other piano roll artists and composers.
